Ghosts It is the eve of the opening of the foundling home dedicated to the memory of Chamberlain Alving, a great man who did great things and of whom everyone only has great memories. Except that isn't actually true. His widow, Mrs. Alving has spent all of her married life and all of her widowhood hiding who the Chamberlain really was, but lies are like ghosts, they haunt the present and cannot be exorcized simply by pretending that they aren't there. As the dedication draws nearer, the legacy of lies comes to an end, but is it too late? Have the lies burned the souls of the Alving family beyond recognition? Can there be salvation for the innocent or must they suffer the sins of their fathers?

Henrick Ibsen's 1891 play is startlingly modern even today, with its frank defense of free love and condemnation of the power of the church, there is nothing quaint or old-fashioned about it.

No performance on Saturday, March 29th.
