Phare Play is auditioning for two of its upcoming shows: our Spring Shorts – A Night of One Acts and Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts on Saturday, February 2, 2008.

Auditions for Ghosts will be from 10-11am. Auditions for Spring Shorts – A Night of One Acts will be from 11am – 2pm.
Both will take place at the Wings Theatre located at 154 Christopher Street between Washington and Greenwich Streets. Auditions will consist of a one minute contemporary monologue.

For an audition time, please email your headshot and resume to audition@phareplay.com. Please indicate which show (Ghosts or Spring Shorts or both) you are interested in auditioning for so we can schedule you accordingly.

Non-equity. No pay.

Three gods at a party have a contest to try to get a new believer.
Loki – 30's, Fire-god, big, red-haired, sly, trickster
Aphrodite – 30's-40's, Goddess of love, absolutely irresistible and confident, MUST BE VERY COMFORTABLE WITH ONSTAGE SEXUALITY
Mercury – 30's-40's, a little older than the other gods, God of merchants and travelers, diplomat, friendly, like a salesman
Jeff – 20's, Ordinary mortal, a little nerdy, MUST BE VERY COMFORTABLE WITH ONSTAGE SEXUALITY
Ellen – 20's, Ordinary mortal, party girl
Brian – 20's, Ordinary mortal, drunk frat boy

Jeff - 30's-40's, argumentative, but mostly a good guy with his heart in the right place
Vanessa - 30's-40's, insensitive and domineering, she's always on the lookout for number one, married to Jeff
Jay – A stranger, any age, enigmatic and secretive. Has a big smile smile.

3) Drunk Reckonings

Four drunk college students get a new perspective on life when they hear a news report that aliens are taking over the planet.
Jeff - Early 20's, Maggie's ex-boyfriend. Likes to have a good time.
Maggie - Early 20's. Jeff's ex-girlfriend.
Lindsay - Early 20's. Down to earth, a bit of a prude.
Becca - Early 20's. Ditzy, horny, secretly has a crush on Jeff.

4) Fifi, Effie, and the Donut Lady

After four months away, world-famous Fifi La Grange returns to New York to seek much-needed advice from her two best friends.
Fifi La Grange - Forties or older. Famous from the success of her book. Very chic, and emulates French culture and lifestyle Unpretentious; sprinkles her speech with French words for her own amusement. Heartbroken over her recent loss. Must like donuts.
The Donut Lady (DL) - Over 35, but hard to tell exactly how old she is. Very scrawny and petite. No make-up; no trendy hairstyle. Retains the posture of someone who wishes to remain invisible. Enjoys sparring with Effie. Plainspoken and unsentimental. A former nun. Must like donuts.
Effie - A spirited senior citizen; think Betty White. Considers Fifi her ideal daughter-figure. Addicted to home-TV shopping. Rather excitable. Loves to test DL. Must like donuts as well.
Helen and Cathy - Two very dedicated teenage fans of Fifi. They copy her chic, fashionable style and flair for language. ( Could also be played by two young gay guys.)

6) Burden Me

A despondent young man seeking answers at church encounters a well meaning, but troubled, groom and his bride to be, a painfully familiar face from the past.
Miller - Mid 20's – Early 30's. Heart broken and distraught. Trying to understand the ultimatum that both brings him to church and drove his love away.
Henry - (Mid 20's – Early 30's. A follower. Well meaning, co-dependent, and dearly in love with Caroline. Has tried and failed often to appease her father's demands.
Caroline - Early 20's – Early 30's. Strong, sweet bride to be. Daddy's little girl who tries to balance her upcoming marriage to Henry with keeping everyone else happy.

Mrs. Alving is about to open an orphanage, a tribute to her late husband, when suddenly all of the secrets, the ghosts, that she has tried to keep down for years come to the surface.
Mrs. Alving - late 40's-50's, a widow, strong, independent
Oswald - mid 20's, her son, a painter, free-thinker
Pastor Manders - 50's, ultra-conservative
Engstrand - 40's-50's, a carpenter, coarse, conniving
Regina - 20s's, Mrs. Alving's maid, attractive, headstrong
